Researchers from various universities have discovered that various social media platforms contribute to varying levels of segregation in online communities.

Researchers analyzed 100 million content on four popular social media sites, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and Gab, to verify reports of idealistic segregation and echo chambers. They found Facebook had the highest levels of segregation and varied in post editing options.

Researchers found that users with specific views on social media networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, have more contacts with others who share similar views.
