London – Fake TikTok accounts have spread disinformation on Russia’s war in Ukraine to millions of people, new data from the Chinese social media giant shows.
TikTok has identified 800 fake accounts targeting European countries, allegedly promoting pro-Russian narratives on the war, including false claims of Ukrainian officials buying luxury cars or villas abroad.
TikTok has removed around 13,000 fake accounts, primarily from Russia, promoting Kremlin war propaganda in various countries, following an investigation by BBC.
