Statistics Canada says manufacturing sales rose 1.2% to $71.7 billion in November, helped by higher sales in the chemical subsector as well as gains in primary metal and machinery groups.

Chemical product sales increased 6.6%, while primary metal product sales increased 4.0% and machinery sales increased 4.3%. Motor vehicle sales fell 4.0%. Manufacturing sales rose 1.6% in November.

Wholesale sales increased in four subsectors, with motor vehicle and parts and accessories subsector experiencing a 3.3% increase and building material and supplies subsector gaining 1.8%.

Statistics Canada is excluding the oilseed and grain industry group and petroleum and petroleum products subsector from its monthly analysis until historical data is available for proper analysis.
