Five Asian golfers advance to the FedExCup Playoffs following the Wyndham Championship.

Following the Wyndham Championship, the final event of the PGA Tour regular season, five Asian golfers have advanced to the FedExCup Playoffs. Hideki Matsuyama and Im Sung-jae will enter the Playoffs in eighth and ninth positions, respectively. Korean golfers An Byeong-hun (12th), Kim Si-woo (36th), and Tom Kim (40th) will also compete among the top 70 players at TPC Southwind this week. Their goal is to remain in the top 50 to qualify for the BMW Championship and secure a spot in the Tour Championship at East Lake, where the FedExCup is awarded.

Last season, all five players represented Asia in the Playoffs, with Kim Si-woo, Tom Kim, and Im reaching the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

Japanese rookie Ryo Hisatsune nearly made the Playoffs, finishing tied for third at the Wyndham Championship with rounds of 64 and 67. Although he moved up to 83rd in the FedExCup standings, he will focus on the Fall Schedule to secure his spot among the top 125 players for the 2025 season.

Scottie Scheffler, the World No. 1 and six-time PGA Tour winner this season, is the favorite to win the FedExCup. Xander Schauffele, a two-time major winner, is in second place, while Rory McIlroy, a three-time FedExCup champion, is in third.

Im Sung-jae holds the record for the highest finish by an Asian golfer in the FedExCup, tying for second place in 2022. The 26-year-old, who has qualified for the Tour Championship in every season since his rookie year in 2019, enters the Playoffs in strong form with seven top-10 finishes this season.

Hideki Matsuyama, Asia’s most successful golfer with nine titles, is also set to return to the Tour Championship. After ending a streak of nine consecutive appearances last year, Matsuyama, who won the Genesis Invitational and earned a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, heads into the FedEx St. Jude Championship with confidence.
